Hue to Vinh Moc Tunnel By Car
- La Vang Holy Land: It is an important pilgrimage destination for Roman Catholics in Vietnam. The La Vang Holy Land is located in Hai Lang District, Quang Tri Province that is 55km away in the north of Hue city. During the seventeenth century, the Canh Thinh Emperor (the first son of Quang Trung Emperor) feared the spread of Catholicism and issued a ban on it so the Catholics ran away and took refuge in the rainforest. The Shrine of our La Vang Lady was constructed next to the three banyan trees. It is said that Mary appeared in 1798 at this place to erase all diseases from the mountain and with the passage of time it became one of the most important Roman Catholics pilgrimage destinations.
- Hien Luong Bridge (Ben Hai River): Hien Luong Bridge is located on the Ben Hai River, in Hien Luong village, Hien Thanh commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province. It was constructed according to the territories marked in the Geneva agreement after the French Indochina war in 1954. Hien Luong Bridge was to connect 2 banks of the Ben Hai River where it was the border area that divided Vietnam into two regions: North and South along the 17th parallel for nearly 21 years, from 1954 to 1975.
- Vinh Moc Tunnels: The tunnels were built in 1965 and took 2 years to finish with more than 50m underground depth including 3 levels and enough places for 1200 people to stay. It was used till 1972 by villagers of Vinh Moc to hide the American forces during the war. The total length of the tunnels is nearly 2,000m long with six entrances to the top of hills and seven entrances to the sea. Nowadays, Vinh Moc Tunnels are a tourist attraction when they travel to Vietnam
- Khe Sanh Combat Base: It is located in Khe Sanh town, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province and is 63 km from Dong Ha, 20 km to Lao Bao Border Gate. Khe Sanh is known to the World through the Battle of Khe Sanh in 1968 in the history of the Vietnam War. You can visit it upon request and the fee is 30+ USD. To know more about the war and history, you should hire the tour guide full day.
