Transfer between Hue and Dmz by private car
The Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone or DMZ was a demilitarized zone in Quang Tri province and at the 17th parallel. It was officially established to divide two regions: North and South Vietnam from 22 July 1954 to 2 July 1976. It became the important battleground demarcation between Communist North Vietnam and anti-communist South Vietnam during the Vietnam war (1955 – 1975)

- La Vang Holy Land – It is an important pilgrimage destination for Roman Catholics in Vietnam. The La Vang Holy Land is located in Hai Lang District, Quang Tri Province. According to history, La Vang is the name that Vietnamese Catholics refer to the apparition of Virgin Maria in 1798 during a period when Catholicism was persecuted in Vietnam. A church was built near three banyan trees, where they believe that the Virgin Mary appeared and was named the Emirate of the Holy See and called La Vang Cathedral since 1961.
- Truong Son Martyr’s Cemetery: It is in the center of Quang Tri province. This was built in 1975 and finished one and half years later. It is the resting place of more than 10,000 martyrs.
- Rock Pile Hill: One of the most interesting US military bases within the DMZ. Rock Pile Hill served as a watchtower to observe the activities of the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army. The American troops saw it as a sanctuary as the place saved them from wild animals roaming around the jungle and it was extremely difficult for the opposing army to get to the high place without getting exposed.
- Dakrong Bridge – The bridge is an important branch of the Ho Chi Minh Trail which leads to the controversial Battle of Hamburger Hill. Dakrong Bridge is a vital route of the Ho Chi Minh Trail to move troops, supplies and munitions.
- Khe Sanh Combat Base: The largest Marine Base Camp in Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone. The seizure of Khe Sanh Combat Base by the Vietnamese People’s Army in early 1968 is believed to be the turning point of the Vietnam War. The combat base still has bunkers, tanks, fighter aircraft and a small museum displaying historical images and weapons.
- Hien Luong Bridge & Ben Hai River – are the relics to memorize dividing 21 years between the North and South throughout the war in 1954.
- Vinh Moc Tunnels: The tunnels were built in 1965 and took 2 years to finish with more than 50m underground depth including 3 levels and enough places for 1200 people to stay. It was used till 1972 by villagers of Vinh Moc to hide the American forces during the war. The total length of the tunnels is nearly 2,000m long with six entrances to the top of hills and seven entrances to the sea. Nowadays, Vinh Moc Tunnels are a tourist attraction when they travel in Vietnam
